Author (s):

USAID

Date:

March 2003

Abstract:

While ongoing programs address a variety of trade capacity building (TCB) needs, a conceptual framework is needed to focus USAID?s efforts and guide the selection of new activities. The agency?s goal is to increase the num- ber of developing and transition countries that are harnessing global economic forces to accelerate growth and increase incomes. To this end, USAID?s trade capacity building projects will support the following:

a) Participation in trade negotiations.

b) Implementation of trade agreements.

c) Economic responsiveness to opportunities for trade.
