Abstract (if Available):

This article describes the activities and impact of USAID's technical assistance to the Association of Palmetto Woman Workers of Pushio, Ecuador, a group of about 50 women. The Association receives external support through training aimed to eliminate middlemen. One technical deficiency was that they didn't know how to make units of different sizes, and USAID's Productive Network has stepped in to provide training on production techniques, standardization, and quality improvement. The Network also aims to improve working conditions and to provide the women with accounting and administration training.
